Timothée Chalamet is shaking up the sports movie playbook in the first teaser for “Marty Supreme.”
Hitting theaters December 25th, the Josh Safdie-directed film stars Chalamet as Marty Mauser, a ping-pong hopeful chasing a dream few take seriously in the 1950s.
“I know it’s hard to believe, but I’m telling you, this game, it fills stadiums overseas,” he says in the trailer, adding “and it’s only a matter of time before I’m staring at you from the cover of a Wheaties box.”
The cast also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Tyler, the Creator, Fran Drescher, and “Shark Tank” businessman Kevin O’Leary.
“Marty Supreme" is Safdie's first solo directorial outing since 2008.
