Scarlett Johansson is stepping behind the camera for her feature directorial debut, “Eleanor the Great,” giving June Squibb a heartfelt leading role.
The film stars the “witty and proudly troublesome 94-year-old Eleanor Morgenstein, who, after a devastating loss, moves to New York City in the film and bonds with a journalism student.
Johansson previously told “The Hollywood Reporter,” “I don’t know how I will be able to process the hugeness of it. It makes me nervous, but I’m excited as well,” adding, “I’m very proud of it and proud of all the work everybody did to make it.”
Squibb is fresh off her lead turn in the action-comedy “Thelma” and her voice role in “Inside Out 2” as Nostalgia.
The cast also features Chiwetel Ejiofor, Jessica Hecht, and Erin Kellyman. “Eleanor the Great” hits theaters September 26th.
