Earlier this week, a 63-year-old woman was rescued alive after being trapped under rubble for 91 hours following a powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Myanmar. The Myanmar Fire Services Department shared the news on social media as rescue efforts continued across the country. The earthquake struck on Friday, leading to thousands of fatalities and injuries.
The epicenter was in Mandalay, the country’s second-largest city, but the quake's impact reached as far as Bangkok, 600 miles away. Several buildings collapsed, including a high-rise under construction. Rescue teams, including military and emergency services, are continuing the search for survivors.
Despite overwhelming devastation, humanitarian groups like the International Rescue Committee are getting aid to affected areas, but stress the need for more clean water, shelter, and medical care. The rescued woman’s survival has been described as miraculous, offering a rare moment of hope amid the disaster response.
