Doechii has addressed the backlash she received after a video of her yelling at her glam team before the 2025 Met Gala spread throughout the Internet.
On Wednesday, May 7, the Florida native took to TikTok to crack a joke about the situation before she shared her thoughts about her glam team for the historic event in New York City. "God forbid a girl needs more umbrellas," she quipped.
“All jokes aside this was such an overstimulating night but I wouldn’t trade it for the world," she wrote in her caption. "This was the night we all dreamed of and my team killed it (umbrellas aside).”
"I'm so so so proud of my glam team and the LV team for an incredible night!" she wrote in an Instagram Story. "We've been dreaming about this Met for a long time and the theme this year is in such alignment with who I am what I stand for. It's nothing but God that this year was our debut. Everyone killed it. We nailed the theme. And a time was had."
Doechii faced plenty of criticism after a video of her shouting at her team at The Mark Hotel before she made her debut on the blue carpet at the Met went viral. In the clip, the elevator door opened too early and almost revealed Doechii's look before she stepped out. After her team shielded her with a rolling privacy screen, Doechii yelled at her team to get her more umbrellas to cover the top of the screen to prevent being seen from above.
“Give me another umbrella, now," she demanded. "I need more f**king umbrellas!”
Many fan believed Doechii acted rudely towards her team, and others felt like she was straight-up verbally abusing them. Some fans agreed that, while it wasn't her greatest moment in the limelight, she shouldn't be crucified for it.
"I love her, but she did do way too much in that video," one person commented on Instagram. "Ain’t no way I could be someone’s assistant and they’re talking like that to me. But this definitely should not be no cancel moment. Relax."
Despite the backlash, the Grammy award-winner is proud of the work everyone did that night.
