Armed carjackers are still at large weeks after robbing two Amazon delivery truck drivers at gunpoint.
The incidents happened hours apart in the same area.
Cleveland police are still investigating and searching the recovered trucks for any clues that could lead to the culprits.
Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia, a spokeswoman for the Cleveland Police Department, said authorities are still working to determine a possible connection between the two robberies.
Both incidents happened on November 25, first around 3:45 p.m. near Chester Avenue, and about two hours later, the other happened on East 80th Street, according to cleveland.com.
The first stolen truck was found with 53 stolen packages in it. The other was later found stuck in mud in an East 76th Street field. Both drivers were threatened with a gun. Police believe a possible accomplice tailed the carjacker in a Jeep Compass after the second robbery on East 80th Street, according to reports.
Cardboard boxes were strewn throughout the field where the second truck was found, and some items were stolen, cleveland.com reported Wednesday (October 9).
Amazon arranged to “make things right” with the customers whose packages were stolen in the robberies, according to a spokesperson.
The investigation is ongoing.
